Lazio ends €20m Polymarket sponsorship after Italian blacklist

The Italian football club Lazio has terminated its main‑shirt partnership with the New York‑based prediction‑market platform Polymarket. The decision follows the Italian Agency of Customs and Monopolies (ADM) labeling Polymarket as an unauthorised betting service and inserting its domain on a national blacklist, which blocked access to the site in Italy on 27 July 2024.

Lazio removed the Polymarket logo from its official website, online store and the jerseys displayed there. The sponsorship, announced in April 2024 as a multi‑year deal worth roughly €19‑22 million, was expected to bring significant revenue to the club. The termination adds pressure to club president Claudio Lotito, who is already coping with a fan boycott that could cost the club up to €20 million in lost income.

Polymarket had previously been blocked in November 2025, then briefly reinstated after a regional administrative court (Tar) ruling, but the latest ADM action reinstates the restriction. The case highlights ongoing regulatory uncertainty over prediction‑market platforms in Europe.
