Lazio wine industry gains new vineyard approvals and partnership boost
The Lazio regional government has approved authorizations for new vineyard plantings for the 2026 campaign. Eighty local companies received permission to establish vineyards covering a total of 779,964 square metres, with the authorizations valid until 31 July 2029. The approvals are recorded in the national agricultural information system and aim to support orderly growth of the region’s viticultural sector, as overseen by regional assessor Giancarlo Righini.
In parallel, the multi‑regional cooperative Cantine Ermes and the historic Marino‑based cooperative Gotto d'Oro have signed a multi‑year partnership to promote Lazio wines. The agreement combines Cantine Ermes’s commercial expertise with Gotto d'Oro’s production chain and brand licences, while preserving existing jobs at the Marino facility. The collaboration is intended to strengthen the market position of Lazio’s DOC wines and link production capabilities between Sicily and the Castelli Romani area.
