Lazio winger Matteo Cancellieri sustained an injury during a vacation in Ibiza, Spain. Reports indicate the player suffered a fall from rocks, resulting in a knee injury that required fifteen stitches.
Cancellieri has returned to Rome to be treated by the club’s medical staff at Formello. While the injury has caused him to miss the resumption of training, medical staff are optimistic about his recovery. The injury is not expected to be severe enough to prevent him from participating in upcoming league matches, including the fixture against Monza on October 11.
The setback comes at a time when manager Gennaro Gattuso is looking to stabilize his attacking options, particularly as Gustav Isaksen continues to work his way back from groin surgery.
