Lazio's Flaminio stadium renovation awaits decisive Soprintendenza ruling

The State Superintendency of Cultural Heritage (Soprintendenza) is set to issue a verdict between 10 and 13 August on Lazio's proposed renovation of Rome's historic Flaminio Stadium. The project, championed by club president Claudio Lotito, aims to modernise the 50,000‑seat arena while preserving the iconic canopy and other elements designed by architect Pier Luigi Nervi.

The superintendency previously rejected earlier plans, stating that the historic canopy must be retained and that a proposed second ring would be too invasive to the original structure. Lazio has submitted additional documentation to address those concerns, and the forthcoming decision will determine whether the redevelopment can proceed or face further delays, with regional authorities and fans watching closely.
