Lazzura wins Group 2 Golden Pendant at Rosehill

The Chris Waller-trained mare Lazzura secured a commanding victory in the Group 2 $400,000 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill. Entering the race as a dominant $1.85 favourite, Lazzura was ridden by James McDonald, who positioned her well behind the speed before utilizing her acceleration in the straight.

Lazzura defeated Verona Rose by 1¼ lengths, with Modella finishing third. The mare stopped the clock at 1:23.00, recording a final 600 metres in 33.82 seconds. This win brings her career earnings to over $2.1 million.

Following the performance, trainer Chris Waller praised the mare’s consistency and professionalism. The stable is now considering future Group 1 targets, including a potential run in The Invitation at Randwick or the Empire Rose Stakes in Melbourne.
