Wels: Woman stopped twice for driving e-scooter while intoxicated
A 42-year-old woman was stopped twice by police in Wels, Austria, while operating an e-scooter. During the initial encounter, officers observed her riding on a sidewalk and identified signs of intoxication. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 1.86 per mille.
Upon testing the vehicle, authorities determined it was a highly motorized model capable of reaching speeds of 40 km/h. Police also documented several technical defects with the scooter. Although the woman refused a clinical examination for potential drug impairment, she was informed of multiple charges. Shortly after the first stop, she was spotted by the same patrol unit operating the e-scooter again in the immediate vicinity, leading to a second interception and further legal proceedings.
