Lübeck playground to undergo inclusive renovation
The Schenkendorfstraße playground in the St. Gertrud district of Lübeck is scheduled for a comprehensive renovation starting next week. The project aims to create an inclusive and functional recreational space designed to accommodate children and adolescents with and without disabilities.
Key features of the redesign include barrier-free access via a continuous paved path connecting various play stations. Specific equipment planned for the site includes an inclusive swing, a barrier-free carousel, and a ground-level accessible trampoline. The plan also incorporates seating and rest areas to encourage social interaction while preserving the existing topography and shaded green structures.
For safety reasons, the playground will remain closed throughout the construction period. Due to weather-dependent requirements for applying the synthetic surface, completion is expected in spring 2027.
