Lübeck resident challenges delay in Herreninsel land-use planning

In Lübeck, resident Hartmut Haase is set to pose his fifth inquiry to the Bürgerschaft regarding the lack of a land-use plan for the Herreninsel area. Despite the presence of 30 developed plots and existing infrastructure, the current 1990 land-use plan designates the peninsula as a special construction area for a sports boat harbor.

While a 2024 expert report concluded that residential use is compatible with long-term regional planning goals and the Harbor Development Plan 2030, the administration has only partially followed the recommendation. Although Building Senator Joanna Hagen previously indicated that a new land-use and development plan should be available within the following year, residents report receiving no further information regarding the public procedure.
