LBRCA lobbies ACCC regarding rural fuel prices and supply
The Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association (LBRCA) has met with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to advocate for regional transport operators. The discussions focused on diesel pricing, fuel availability, market competition, and the commercial pressures affecting rural carriers.
LBRCA President Wade Lewis stated that the meeting allowed the association to share firsthand experiences regarding how freight contracts and fuel supply arrangements impact agricultural supply chains. The engagement aims to ensure the concerns of regional operators are heard by regulatory authorities.
According to the ACCC’s weekly fuel price monitoring report from October 14, 2026, average retail diesel prices reached 284.1 cents per litre across more than 190 monitored regional locations. The report noted that regional prices are often influenced by local supply stability, shortages, demand, and distance.
