LBTBI women in Brazil hold regional and national meetings to advocate for rights

In Brazil, regional and national gatherings have focused on the rights and visibility of LBTBI women. In Búzios, the first Regional Meeting of LBTBI Women of the Baixada Litorânea was held to discuss public policies and strategies to combat violations against LBTBI, Black, and migrant women. The event brought together public officials, civil society, and healthcare professionals to address challenges in accessing health services, justice, and social protection.

Simultaneously, the movement marked 30 years since the first National Lesbian Seminar (Senale) with the 9th edition of the meeting in Rio de Janeiro. Under the theme ‘Lesbians weaving stories, building futures,’ the seminar addressed ongoing struggles regarding access to work, education, housing, and integral health. The discussions highlighted that despite civil rights advancements, many women continue to face invisibility and marginalization based on class, race, and gender performance.
