LC Waikiki and TEGV launch social and emotional development program
LC Waikiki and the Türkiye Eğitim Gönüllüleri Vakfı (TEGV) have introduced the ‘Yaşamsal Gelişim Yolculuğu Eğitim Programı’ (Vital Development Journey Education Program). The initiative aims to support the social and emotional learning skills of primary school-aged children through age-appropriate learning experiences.
The program follows a study conducted by LC Waikiki in collaboration with FutureBright, which surveyed 911 parents across 12 provinces. The research highlighted gaps in children's ability to express emotions. While 51% of parents reported that children describe themselves through favorite games or activities, only 18% reported that children speak about their emotions.
Findings also indicated challenges in expressing anger. While 85% of parents noted children explain the reasons behind their joy, that figure drops to 63% when children are angry. The study found that girls (68%) were more likely than boys (57%) to explain the reasons behind their anger.
