Lácteos Verónica agrees to sell two plants for US$ 15.5 million

Lácteos Verónica, a historic dairy company in Santa Fe, Argentina, has agreed to sell its Clason and Suardi industrial plants for US$ 15.5 million in an attempt to avoid permanent closure due to a severe financial crisis.

The sale agreement, signed on July 2, allocates US$ 9 million for the Clason plant and US$ 6.5 million for the Suardi plant. However, because the company is currently in a preventive reorganization process, the transaction requires authorization from a commercial court to finalize the transfer of assets.

The company's financial instability has significantly impacted its workforce and local economy. The number of employees has dropped from nearly 700 to just over 300, with workers reporting unpaid wages and bonuses since December. Additionally, approximately 150 dairy producers are claiming an estimated US$ 70 million in unpaid debts for raw milk deliveries.
