Kosovo is facing an institutional crisis following the failure to constitute the 11th legislature of the Assembly. The deadlock centers on the election of a president and the formation of a government.

Acting President Albulena Haxhiu has called for a consultative meeting on August 18 with political leaders to discuss finding a consensual presidential candidate and restoring institutional functionality. Albin Kurti, the acting Prime Minister, has urged parties to move beyond general discussions and begin proposing specific names for the presidency to avoid the risk of early elections.

Political tensions remain high. The LDK has withdrawn from coalition negotiations with Vetëvendosje, stating it will remain in opposition but is willing to vote for a non-partisan, consensual president. Conversely, the AAK has refused Haxhiu's meeting request, accusing the current leadership of attempting to find scapegoats for a decision to trigger elections. Meanwhile, the PDK has accused Vetëvendosje of violating constitutional deadlines for the Assembly's constitution and has reported an alleged physical assault by a police officer against a deputy during a plenary session.
