The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) held an extraordinary congress on 30‑31 July 2026, attended by roughly 330 delegates. In a secret ballot, 170 delegates voted against removing Lumir Abdixhiku, 152 voted for his removal and five ballots were invalid, so the motion failed and Abdixhiku was re‑elected as party president.

Abdixhiku labelled the congress “unnecessary, harmful and divisive,” but urged the party to move past the episode. He announced a mandate to resume talks with Vetëvendosje (LVV) based on three agreed principles and emphasized that LDK will work for Kosovo’s institutional stability. He also warned that if former prime minister Përparim Rama were involved in the removal attempt, it would constitute a serious wrongdoing.

Party officials such as deputy chairman Lutfi Haziri, senior member Bajram Gecaj and regional leader Imri Ahmeti echoed the call for democratic process, unity and respect for party members.
