LDS Church delivers wheelchairs in El Salvador and builds new pediatric hospital in Cambodia

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated 228 wheelchairs and 340 mobility devices to the Teletón Pro‑Rehabilitation Association in San Salvador, El Salvador, on 14 July 2026. The donation included adult, pediatric and all‑terrain wheelchairs as well as walkers and canes, and was presented by stake president Germán Antonio Alvarado Hernández.

In June, the Church also shipped 1,500 wheelchairs and orthopedic devices to the Argentine nonprofit CILSA in Santa Fe, Argentina, where volunteers unloaded the equipment from five containers.

Separately, the Church’s Asia Area, led by General Authority Seventy Elder Benjamin M. Z. Tai, funded a new four‑story, 35,000‑square‑foot pediatric surgical building for the National Pediatric Hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The facility will double surgical capacity with seven operating rooms, a recovery ward, an intensive‑care unit and a general ward, and is slated to open in August 2027. The Church also supported children’s programs in South Korea, Thailand and Mongolia.

These coordinated humanitarian projects aim to improve mobility for people with disabilities and expand critical pediatric surgical services across several continents.
