Le Gorafi pledges August issue profits to fire victims in Porge, France
The French satirical news site Le Gorafi announced on 4 August 2026 that it will donate the entire profit from its August print edition to residents of the Porge commune in Gironde who were affected by the historic wildfires. Founder and director‑general Sébastien Liebus explained that the decision is personal: an author lives in Porge and lost his home, and several of his family members were evacuated. The fires have burned more than 42,000 hectares of forest and destroyed hundreds of houses in the region.
Le Gorafi, a parody of The Onion launched in 2012, recently began publishing a monthly paper edition. While the announcement was delivered with its characteristic humor, the donation is intended as a concrete act of solidarity with the victims of the Gironde fires.
