Le Grand Repas culinary event set for October 2026
The national culinary initiative ‘Le Grand Repas’ is scheduled for October 8, 2026, with various regional participations focused on local gastronomy and short supply chains.
In the Vienne department of France, the event aims to serve 12,000 meals across 88 establishments, including traditional restaurants, school canteens, corporate dining, and senior residences. Chefs Frédéric Turbeau and Chloé Frayssens have designed a menu featuring items such as lamb tagine with butternut squash or Poitou cassoulet. The initiative emphasizes the use of local producers, such as livestock from the Montmorillon agricultural high school and regional goat cheeses.
In Guadeloupe, the municipality of Le Gosier is participating for the second time through the association Agores 971. The event will feature special menus in school cafeterias and for seniors receiving home-delivered meals. The menu, designed by Lionel Navis and Rico Vaitilingon, includes dishes like farm chicken supreme with tamarind and Creole garden vegetables. The program aims to promote healthy eating, culinary expertise, and awareness regarding food waste prevention.
