Le Portel to host France-Australia Billie Jean King Cup play-off
The French Tennis Federation has announced that Le Portel, located in Pas-de-Calais, will host the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup play-off between France and Australia. The matches are scheduled for November 21 and 22, 2026.
The event will take place at Le Chaudron, a venue with a capacity of 3,400 spectators known for its intense atmosphere. The competition will be played on indoor clay courts. This play-off is a critical fixture for the French women's team, as a victory would allow them to rejoin the elite World Group, while a loss would keep them in the lower tier of the competition.
This marks the third time Le Chaudron has hosted Billie Jean King Cup matches, following previous encounters against the Netherlands in 2022 and Great Britain in 2024. Gilles Moretton, president of the French Tennis Federation, expressed confidence in the venue's ability to provide a successful and popular event for the sport.
