Le Quang Liem leads US women's chess team to fourth at Olympiad

Grandmaster Le Quang Liem completed his first tournament as the head coach of the United States women's national chess team at the 2026 Chess Olympiad in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Under his leadership, the team finished in fourth place overall after 11 rounds, recording eight wins, one draw, and two losses.

Despite the team's fourth-place finish, which prevented them from competing for a team medal following decisive losses to India and Armenia, several players achieved significant individual success. Alice Lee won the individual gold medal on board two with an undefeated performance, while Carissa Yip secured the individual silver medal on board one.
