Le Quoc Minh calls for strategic national philanthropy in Vietnam

At a training program for the Human Act Prize 2026, Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper and Chairman of the Human Act Prize Organizing Committee, addressed the need for more strategic national philanthropy in Vietnam.

Mr. Minh highlighted a paradox in current charitable activities: while many individuals and organizations are enthusiastic, resources are often distributed unevenly. He noted that aid frequently follows media attention, where a single individual might receive billions of dong due to social media visibility, while thousands of others in similar hardship remain unknown and unsupported.

To improve effectiveness, he suggested that charitable efforts should move away from spontaneous and scattered distribution. Instead, individual contributions should be coordinated and integrated into a larger strategic framework that addresses the country's long-term developmental needs, rather than merely measuring success by the amount of money donated.
