Île Seguin opens Le Large contemporary art center

The new contemporary art center, Le Large, has officially opened on Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt, marking a significant cultural transformation for the former industrial site of the Renault factories.

Designed by the Catalan architecture firm RCR, the 5,000-square-meter facility is part of a larger development project led by Laurent Dumas and the real estate group Emerige. The project follows decades of failed attempts by various high-profile figures to develop the site.

The inaugural exhibition, titled ‘Moteur Imaginaire’, runs from October 17, 2026, to March 7, 2027. Curated by Cecilia Alemani, the exhibition explores the relationship between humanity, machinery, and industrial history. It features a dialogue between contemporary works and pieces from the Renault Foundation for Art and Culture, including works by Victor Vasarely. The exhibition uses the theme of the automobile to address societal issues such as assembly-line labor, ecology, and innovation.
