Île Vierge beach in Brittany ranks among the world’s top five beaches

The beach on Île Vierge in the Crozon Peninsula, Finistère, has been placed fifth in Hellotickets’ 2026 list of the world’s most beautiful beaches – the only French entry among the top five.

The ranking highlights the site’s striking turquoise waters, dramatic cliffs and pine‑fringed shoreline, contrasting with typical Breton scenery and drawing comparisons to tropical destinations. The recognition is expected to boost tourism to the area while also raising concerns about pressure on the fragile coastal ecosystem. Local authorities stress the need for sustainable visitor management to protect the natural environment.

The inclusion of a French beach alongside sites such as Whitehaven (Australia) and Anse Source d’Argent (Seychelles) challenges the notion that only tropical locations can achieve “exceptional beach” status.
