Leça da Palmeira celebrates patron saint Saint Michael

Religious celebrations in honor of Saint Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of Leça da Palmeira, took place on Sunday, September 27. The festivities began with a Solemn Eucharist at the Matriz Church, followed by a traditional procession through the streets of the parish.

The procession included acolytes, members of various brotherhoods, and 14 floats adorned with natural flowers representing different local communities and chapels. The event drew numerous residents and visitors, maintaining one of the oldest religious traditions in the area. The ceremonies were attended by Carlos Mouta, vice-president of the Matosinhos Municipal Council.
