Leadership renewals announced for Italian professional and community organizations

Laura Mongiello has been reconfirmed as president of the National Council of the Order of Food Technologists for the 2026-2029 term. The new council includes vice-presidents Daniele Romano and Giorgio Donegani, secretary Giuseppe Paltani, and treasurer Nicola Condelli.

Mongiello identified key challenges for the upcoming mandate, including climate change, food waste reduction, and market uncertainties. The organization aims to focus on involving younger generations, enhancing food safety, and promoting technical expertise within the agri-food system.

In Vieste, the Fratres association has renewed its leadership for the 2026-2030 period, confirming Michele Mastromatteo as president. The association continues its mission to promote blood donation culture, particularly following recent shortages of O-positive blood reported by the San Giovanni Rotondo hospital.

In 2025, the association collected 1,138 units of blood, plasma, and platelets. Between January and September 2026, an additional 700 units were donated to local medical facilities.
