Leading Labels to close all UK stores after 33 years

Leading Labels, a retail chain operating in the United Kingdom for 33 years, has announced the closure of all its stores and the cessation of its website operations. The company, which carries brands such as Calvin Klein, Wrangler, Elle, and Joules, entered a formal liquidation process on May 26 following financial difficulties and issues regarding overdue financial accounts.

The closure affects 15 locations, including Basildon, Bolton, Boston, Carlisle, Ipswich, Lincoln, Norwich, and Stevenage. To clear remaining inventory before the permanent shutdown, the company has launched liquidation sales with discounts of up to 75%.

The exit of Leading Labels highlights ongoing challenges within the UK physical retail sector, driven by rising operating costs, declining footfall, and a consumer shift toward online shopping.
