Chivas loses to LAFC on penalties in Leagues Cup debut

Club Deportivo Guadalajara (Chivas) played Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) at the BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The match ended 1‑1 after regular time, with Denis Bouanga scoring for LAFC in the 38th minute and Roberto Alvarado equalising for Chivas four minutes later. The tie was decided by a penalty shoot‑out, which LAFC won 5‑4; Chivas missed twice, the kicks of Kevin Castañeda and Luis Romo.

On the same day Toluca FC beat the defending champions Seattle Sounders 3‑0 in their home debut, with goals from Jesús Gallardo (3′), Helinho (64′) and Federico Viñas (90+3′).
