Leandro Bordalecou confirmed as interim mayor
The local City Council has confirmed Leandro Bordalecou as the interim mayor, replacing Javier Gastón, who is on annual leave until September 4, 2026. The appointment follows the Organic Law of Municipalities, which mandates that the first elected councilor on the corresponding list assumes leadership during a temporary absence. Bordalecou, representing Unión por la Patria, will interrupt his leave as a councilor to fulfill the executive role.
During the session, the Council approved the interim appointment despite opposition from the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) block, which had proposed a decree to investigate potential procedural non-compliance regarding the assumption of office. The UCR's proposal was rejected by a vote of 12 to 3.
Additionally, the Council approved an initiative from the opposition calling for an urgent meeting of the Municipal Salary Table to review wage recomposition and the purchasing power of municipal workers. The session also addressed the acceptance of a donation for the ‘Casa Alfonsín – Espacio Cultural y Patrimonial’ property.
