Leandro Hernández enters CIES ranking of top South American youth players

Colo Colo forward Leandro Hernández has been recognized in a ranking of the best under-23 football players in South America. According to a study by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), the 21-year-old Chilean is the only player from his country to appear in the top ten.

Hernández holds the 9th position with a score of 74.8, placing him ahead of Brazil's René Ferreira. The ranking is led by Emerson Pata of Ecuador's Independiente del Valle, followed by Julián Fernández of Rosario Central and Tomás Aranda of Boca Juniors.

During the 2026 season, Hernández has played 29 matches, recording eight goals and six assists. His performance has contributed to Colo Colo's current lead in the National Championship.
