Leapmotor and MG compete in compact electric vehicle market
The compact electric vehicle segment is seeing increased competition from Chinese manufacturers, specifically with the Leapmotor B05 and the MG4 Urban.
The Leapmotor B05 features a minimalist interior with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. It measures 4.43 meters in length and utilizes flush door handles and frameless side windows.
The MG4 Urban, owned by a Shanghai-based group, offers an entry-level price point of under 20,000 euros. This model provides an estimated 325 kilometers of range and a 480-liter trunk capacity. Technical updates include the adoption of lithium-iron-phosphate batteries, which allow for faster charging times of approximately 25 minutes. The vehicle retains physical buttons for climate and audio controls and includes a trip planner and one-pedal driving functionality.
