Leapmotor announces new EV architecture and battery technology

Leapmotor has announced significant technological advancements in electric vehicle design and consumer support. At its 2026 Tech Day, the company unveiled the LEAP 5.0 Mobile Space Architecture. This new design integrates the air conditioning unit with the rear propulsion system, increasing cabin length by 19% and reducing component counts by 18%. The skateboard-style design features a lower, flatter floor and a higher roof, resulting in a 63.7% increase in interior height.

Additionally, Leapmotor introduced its Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) 3.0 battery technology. This system integrates cells directly into the chassis and features a low-voltage capability seven times greater than previous generations, potentially eliminating the need for traditional 12-volt lead-acid auxiliary batteries. The first models utilizing this architecture are expected in 2027.

Regarding consumer services, Leapmotor is extending warranties for its 2027 model lineup, including the C10 and B10 models. The standard warranty will increase to six years or 150,000 kilometers, while the electrical system—covering motors, inverters, and batteries—will be covered for eight years or 160,000 kilometers. The company is also preparing to launch the B10 REEV, a range-extended version of its smallest SUV, in upcoming weeks.
