Leapmotor expands European EV presence with B03 hatchback

At the 2026 Paris Motor Show, Leapmotor showcased its expanding European lineup, headlined by the B03 electric hatchback. Developed through a joint venture with Stellantis, the B03 is a compact B-segment vehicle designed to compete with models like the Renault 5 and Volkswagen ID. Polo. The B03 features a 145 kW (194 hp) motor, a 53 kWh battery providing up to 390 km of WLTP range, and rapid charging capabilities that allow a 10% to 80% charge in 21 minutes.

Leapmotor also presented its flagship D19 luxury SUV, which offers six or seven seats and advanced driver assistance systems. The company is strengthening its European presence through local production, including the B10 SUV manufactured in Zaragoza, Spain, to mitigate import tariffs. This strategic move, described as ‘local for local’, leverages Stellantis’s existing service and sales networks.

The broader automotive landscape in Europe is seeing significant shifts as numerous Chinese manufacturers, including BYD, Geely, and Lynk & Co, increase their presence. Lynk & Co introduced the 07 GT shooting brake in Paris, positioning it as a more affordable alternative to premium German brands. This influx of competition focuses on high technology, competitive pricing, and localized manufacturing to secure long-term market share.
