Leapmotor expands European electric vehicle presence

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Leapmotor is rapidly expanding its footprint in Europe through a strategic joint venture with Stellantis. The company has surpassed 1,000 retail and service locations across 36 European countries, covering approximately 80% of the region. This expansion includes new points of sale in Norway and the Balkan region.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Emil Frey Group has signed an agreement to represent Leapmotor. The brand will be distributed via P Automobil Import, an Emil Frey member. This move aims to meet the growing regional demand for electric mobility and builds upon Emil Frey’s existing portfolio of brands such as Peugeot, Citroën, and Fiat.

To drive down costs for affordable electric models, Leapmotor is implementing a technological approach where complete, pre-optimized component packages—including battery packs, electric motors, and electronics—are supplied to European factories. This method is expected to save between 120 and 240 euros per vehicle, facilitating the production of more budget-friendly electric cars by Stellantis brands in locations such as Italy.
