Tesla dominates European car sales in September

Tesla has achieved a significant breakthrough in the European automotive market, with its Model Y and Model 3 securing the top two positions in monthly sales for September. The Model Y recorded 40,917 registrations, surpassing the Dacia Sandero to become the best-selling car in Europe for the month. This surge brought Tesla's total monthly registrations in Europe to 66,035, breaking its previous record set in March 2023.

On a year-to-date basis, the Model Y has also overtaken the Dacia Sandero for the top spot in Europe. While the Sandero led for the first nine months of the year, the Model Y has since climbed to 167,369 registrations compared to the Sandero's 162,969.

Concurrently, Chinese manufacturers are expanding their footprint in the region. Leapmotor, which operates through a joint venture with Stellantis, is increasing its European presence. Production of the Leapmotor B10 crossover has commenced at the Stellantis plant in Zaragoza, Spain, with the B05 sedan expected to follow. Additionally, the Leapmotor B03X compact SUV is entering markets like Slovenia, positioning itself as a competitive option in the electric vehicle segment.
