Denza unveils electric Z supercar and BAO 5 hybrid SUV across Europe

Chinese premium brand Denza, part of BYD, launched its all‑electric Z supercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and announced the model for European markets. The Z is offered in Coupe, Spider and Racing variants, all powered by a three‑motor drivetrain delivering 1 604 hp and 1 240 Nm of torque. Acceleration ranges from 2.25 s (Coupe) to 1.96 s (Racing) with top speeds up to 350 km/h. The car features Denza’s e3 platform, DiSus‑M magnetorheological suspension, a 76 kWh Blade battery and “Flash Charging” that can raise charge from 10 % to 70 % in five minutes on compatible stations.

Alongside the Z, Denza introduced the BAO 5 plug‑in hybrid SUV for the European market. The SUV combines a 1.5‑litre turbo‑charged gasoline engine with three electric motors for a total output of 544 hp and 760 Nm. It offers 0‑100 km/h in 4.8 s, a combined WLTP range of 835 km and a 31.8 kWh battery that provides up to 90 km of pure electric driving. Both models are priced above €150 000 in France and are positioned against high‑performance offerings from Porsche, Maserati and Tesla.

Pre‑order figures show strong early interest, with more than 1 000 reservations for the Z secured within 24 hours of opening in China. The launch marks Denza’s push to establish a premium high‑tech presence in Europe, leveraging fast‑charging technology and extreme performance to compete with established luxury marques.
