Leapmotor launches B05 compact electric car in Italy

Leapmotor introduced its B05 compact electric hatchback in Italy, targeting the European market. The model features a rear‑wheel‑drive layout, a 218‑horse‑power motor, and battery options up to 67.1 kWh delivering a range of up to 482 km. Safety equipment includes seven airbags and 21 driver‑assistance functions, while the interior relies on a button‑free digital cockpit with an 8.8‑inch instrument display and a 14.6‑inch infotainment screen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The B05 was test‑driven in the Bergamasque valleys, where reviewers noted its lively acceleration, precise steering and sporty handling aided by launch control. Its dimensions place it in the C‑segment (4.43 m long, 2.73 m wheelbase) and the design emphasizes smooth lines, hidden door handles and an LED lighting signature.

At the same time, Leapmotor reported record global deliveries for the first half of 2026 – 356,487 units, a 95 % year‑on‑year increase, with exports accounting for about 12 % of shipments. The growth is underpinned by a joint venture with Stellantis, Leapmotor International, which aims to accelerate European distribution and reduce entry costs. The company's rapid sales rise and European launch of the B05 signal an expanding presence for the Chinese EV maker in the continent’s competitive market.
