Leapmotor unveils LEAP 5.0 architecture for spacious EV interiors

Leapmotor has announced a major technological shift for its electric vehicle lineup starting in 2027, centered around the new LEAP 5.0 New Mobile Space Architecture. This design aims to maximize passenger space without increasing the overall size of the vehicles.

The LEAP 5.0 architecture utilizes a more compact integration of components, combining the air conditioning system with other mechanical elements into a single unit. By using a rear-mounted propulsion system and a flat, low floor inspired by skateboard platforms, the company expects to increase cabin length by 19%, interior height by 63.7%, and front-row legroom by 37.5%. The design may even allow enough vertical space for a person to stand inside the vehicle.

In addition to spatial improvements, the new architecture reduces the total number of components by 18% and decreases necessary piping by 30%. These innovations were presented during a Tech Day at the company's battery plant in Huzhou.
