Learner Tien to face Daniel Merida in Canadian Open quarterfinals

Learner Tien and Daniel Merida are set to face each other in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Canadian Open at the IGA Stadium in Montreal. The match features the 12th seed, Tien, against Merida in an ATP Masters 1000 tournament.

Tien reached the quarterfinals after defeating Gael Monfilsin in three sets and overcoming 17th seed Tommy Paul in straight sets. In the fourth round, Tien secured a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Thiago Agustin Tirante after overcoming several match points.

Merida advanced to the quarterfinals following a series of victories, including a first-round win over Liam Draxl, a straight-sets victory against 24th seed Ugo Humbert, and a three-set win over Alex Michelsen. Merida most recently defeated Tallon Griekspoor with a score of 6-3, 6-1.
