Solar energy initiatives expand through municipal projects and new technologies

Various solar energy developments and technological advancements are being implemented across different regions. In Puntagorda, Spain, a new 51.92 kWp photovoltaic plant has been inaugurated near a senior center, funded by Next Generation EU. This installation uses bifacial modules to provide renewable energy for self-consumption and create shade for the facility.

In Lanjarón, Spain, the local government is implementing a collective self-consumption system for municipal buildings, including a market and a library, to reduce energy costs and improve sustainability. Meanwhile, in Andalusia, research is exploring the use of semi-transparent solar panels in greenhouses to balance electricity production with plant photosynthesis requirements.

Technological innovations are also emerging, such as an AI-based platform designed to help developers assess local opposition to solar projects in the US, and a startup, Meteoric Technologies, which aims to use drone swarms to dissipate clouds and increase solar radiation. Additionally, experts are highlighting the importance of auditing electrical infrastructures before installing high-power solar kits to prevent fire risks caused by outdated wiring.
