Lebak child dies after falling into 12-meter well

A seven-year-old girl, identified as Alisya Hibatillah, died after falling into a 12-meter-deep well in Kampung Kebun Cau, Lebak Regency, Banten, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

The incident occurred around 4:00 PM local time when the child attempted to retrieve a bag placed on top of the well. The well was covered by a wooden board that was reportedly old and fragile. The board broke under her weight, causing her to fall into the shaft.

Emergency response teams, including Basarnas Banten, BPBD Lebak, and local police, conducted an evacuation operation. The victim was recovered from the well at approximately 8:15 PM in deceased condition.
