Lebanese Agriculture Minister tours Bekaa and Chouf regions

Lebanese Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani conducted field tours in the Bekaa Valley and Chouf regions to inspect agricultural projects and discuss sector development. In the Bekaa, the Minister visited several sites, including the MEDIGARDENS packaging center, Berry Fruits Farm, and the Agri Fresh project. These visits focused on modernizing production through technology, improving post-harvest services such as sorting and cooling to meet export standards, and exploring promising crops like blueberries.

In the Chouf region, Minister Hani was accompanied by the Dutch Ambassador, Frank Molen. Their tour included meetings with bean farmers, a visit to the Agricultural Technical School in Baakline, and an inspection of the Souk al-Jabal fruit and vegetable market. The delegation also reviewed carob processing activities in Debsye. The discussions emphasized the importance of agricultural education, technical training, and food processing to increase value-added products and reduce crop waste. The Minister highlighted that successful agriculture requires a continuous chain of knowledge, efficient resource use, and high-quality standards from soil management to final distribution.
