Lebanon and Egypt observe Prophet Muhammad’s birthday

Various nations are observing the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (Mawlid al-Nabi) through religious observances and cultural traditions.

In Lebanon, Prime Minister Najib Mikati addressed citizens in Tripoli, calling for national unity to overcome the country’s economic and political crises. He highlighted concerns from a World Bank report suggesting that war could lead to a 6.4% GDP contraction by 2026 and rising inflation. Mikati emphasized that continued negotiations are essential to resolve territorial issues and ensure state sovereignty.

In Egypt, celebrations are widespread. In Alexandria, residents are maintaining traditional customs such as distributing banana-flavored sharbat and purchasing Mawlid sweets. Cultural events, including religious chanting performances by individuals with special needs, were held at the Cairo University interchange station through a collaboration between the Ministries of Transport and Culture. Additionally, governors from Port Said and New Valley issued official greetings to President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, marking the occasion as a time for peace and national development.
