Lebanese army seizes 1.2 million captagon pills

The Lebanese army has seized approximately 1.2 million captagon pills that were being prepared for smuggling out of the country. The operation took place in the Sarba area of Kesrouan, north of Beirut, where military intelligence intercepted two individuals while they were packing the synthetic narcotic into a vehicle.

The two suspects have been handed over to competent authorities for further investigation. Officials are working to determine the origin of the pills, their manufacturing site, the intended route, and the identity of the network responsible for the transport.

This seizure occurs amid ongoing regional pressure on Lebanon and Syria to combat the production and trafficking of captagon, a major security issue involving Gulf monarchies. The operation follows recent diplomatic shifts, such as Saudi Arabia lifting import restrictions on Lebanese goods earlier this year.
