Lebanese authorities seize 4.9 kg of cocaine at Beirut airport

The Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) have dismantled a drug smuggling attempt involving a network operating from Latin America. Following intelligence gathered by the Central Narcotics Office, authorities identified a plot to smuggle narcotics from Brazil to Lebanon via Rafic Hariri International Airport.

On August 25, 2026, a Lebanese national, identified as A.T. (born 1986), was intercepted upon arrival at the airport. Following coordination with General Security, a search of his luggage revealed 4.9 kg of cocaine. The drugs were professionally concealed within the bottom of two suitcases, mixed with adhesive materials to evade detection.

The suspect has confessed to the crime, stating the cocaine was intended to be separated from the adhesive substances at a later stage. Legal proceedings are currently underway under judicial supervision as authorities continue to investigate the wider smuggling network.
