Lebanese community reacts to protests and visa challenges in France

Recent protests and instances of vandalism in France have sparked intense debate among the Lebanese diaspora and social media users. Many Lebanese nationals have expressed strong condemnation of the violence and property damage, seeking to distinguish themselves from other migrant groups by emphasizing their respect for French laws and order.

Omar Al-Khouli, head of the Lebanese Students Committee in France, has officially called for students to refrain from participating in protests and to respect French regulations, noting that the right to demonstrate does not justify violence or attacks on public and private property.

Beyond social media debates, Lebanese citizens are facing increased difficulties regarding visa applications. Following the escalation of conflict in 2024, visa agencies report a decline in the acceptance of Lebanese files. Some European embassies are reportedly not accepting property ownership in Southern Lebanon as sufficient proof of intent to return, complicating the immigration process for many.
