Lebanese leaders condemn Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia
Lebanese political and business leaders have expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia following Houthi attacks on civilian infrastructure, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun spoke with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to condemn the aggression, describing the attacks as a threat to regional stability. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam also reaffirmed Lebanon’s support for Saudi Arabia’s right to defend its sovereignty.
The security situation in Saudi Arabia is impacting regional economies, particularly for countries heavily reliant on migrant labor. In Bangladesh, the instability has highlighted vulnerabilities in the national migration economy. Data indicates that job approvals for overseas employment in Saudi Arabia decreased by nearly 46 percent compared to the same period last year. This shift poses risks to Bangladesh’s foreign exchange earnings and rural economy, as Saudi Arabia remains a critical source of remittances.
