Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture rescues hyena in Akkar

A specialized team from the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture successfully rescued a wild hyena that became trapped in a snare intended for wild boars in the Mishmish area of Akkar. The intervention followed the circulation of social media footage showing the animal stuck in the trap.

After being freed, the hyena received medical attention to ensure its health and safety before being released back into its natural habitat. The ministry team also removed the traps from the site to prevent similar incidents involving non-target species.

The Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that protecting wildlife is a vital part of national efforts to preserve biodiversity and ecosystem balance. They noted that species like hyenas play a crucial role in the natural environment by removing carcasses and limiting the spread of certain pathogens.
