Lebanese Ministry of Education addresses free request exam status

The media office of Lebanon’s Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Rima Karami, issued a statement addressing inquiries from several members of parliament regarding free request exams and the issuance of certificates.

Responding to accusations of negligence and delay, the Ministry clarified that the current legal framework regarding the cancellation of official certificates lacks explicit text determining the status of free request exams. To ensure any decision is legally sound and protected from future challenges, the Ministry has referred the matter to the Legislation and Consultation Commission for a formal opinion.

The Ministry noted that the need for new legislative proposals to address the situation further confirms that the existing law does not provide a clear resolution. The Ministry maintains that waiting for the Commission’s ruling is a commitment to legal procedure rather than a delay of student rights.
