Lebanese MP Hassan Fadlallah criticizes government response to southern conflict

Lebanese MP Hassan Fadlallah, a member of the ‘Loyalty to the Resistance’ bloc, has criticized the Lebanese government’s performance regarding the conflict in South Lebanon. He emphasized that the primary struggle involves liberating land, protecting citizens, and facilitating the return and reconstruction of southern villages for displaced persons.

Fadlallah argued that the government has failed to provide a reasonable political solution since November 27, 2024, and accused certain authorities of abandoning international protections like Resolution 1701. He claimed that some political factions are using the occupation as a tool to pressure the resistance into disarming, rather than pursuing agreements that ensure sovereignty and Israeli withdrawal.

Furthermore, Fadlallah called on the Lebanese government to redirect its financial and economic resources toward reconstruction and supporting displaced populations. He noted that Hezbollah and the Amal Movement remain open to political solutions that protect the country. He also highlighted the role of Iran, stating that Lebanon remains a priority in potential Iranian-American negotiations and that regional stability is inextricably linked to Lebanon’s situation.
