Lebanese Parliament elects secretaries and committee members by acclamation

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri concluded a parliamentary session dedicated to electing secretaries, commissioners, and members of various parliamentary committees.

Secretaries Hadi Abu al-Hassan and Alain Aoun were elected, while commissioners Abdel Karim Kabara, Hagop Bakradounian, and Michel Moussa were elected by acclamation. This atmosphere of consensus extended to the renewal of parliamentary committees, which saw only minor changes in membership.

During the session, several deputies raised legislative concerns. Deputy Paula Yacoubian called for sessions addressing rental laws and other social issues, while Deputy Halima Kaakour addressed the issue of deputy absenteeism from committee meetings. Deputy Wadah al-Sadek advocated for stricter attendance controls and the lifting of secrecy regarding committee meetings.
