Lebanese security forces thwart Syrian human smuggling attempt to Cyprus
Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) have thwarted a human smuggling operation aimed at transporting Syrian nationals to Cyprus by sea. Following intelligence regarding irregular migration attempts from northern Lebanon, authorities conducted a raid on a room in the Al-Aboudiya area.
During the operation, security forces arrested one individual and nine Syrian nationals who were being held in preparation for the illegal crossing. Investigations revealed that two individuals, one Lebanese and one Syrian, were organizing the smuggling attempt and charging each person a fee of $5,000 USD. The suspects have been handed over to the judiciary, and efforts to apprehend remaining accomplices are ongoing.
